14- 15 MAY, 2010A History of Communism – Training Courses
From March to October 2010, the IICCMER is organising training courses for the History teachers within secondary schools in order to help improve the teaching approaches of Romania’s recent history.
The first training session took place in the interval 16-17April, in Braşov, and was followed by a training session in Bucharest, in the interval 14-15 May.

8 JULY 2010 - Meeting between the executive management of IICCMER and the representatives of the “Corneliu Coposu” Foundation in Bucharest.
Purpose: The restoration of the former prison of Râmnicu Sărat, where numerous political leaders of the interwar period such as Ion Mihalache, Ilie Lazăr or Corneliu Coposu were detained.
The partnership between the two institutions aims at creating a framework for honouring the memory of Mr. Corneliu Coposu, one of the most important political figures of Romanian democratic anticommunism.
19 JULY 2010 - Conference: The Project of the “False Salvation”. The Condemnation of Communism by the Catholic Church

21 JULY 2010 - The conclusion of a five-year Collaboration Protocol between the Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes and the Memory of the Romanian Exile (IICCMER) and the Romanian Diplomatic Institute (IDR).
Objectives for 2010: the publication of a volume comprising articles, discourses, and interviews of Grigore Gafencu, former minister of foreign affairs and a prominent personality of the Romanian democratic exile. An exhibition dedicated to Grigore Gafencu will also be organised by the end of 2010.

The project started on 25 July and will continue in the following months.
26 JULY 2010 - Interview: “The Remains of Communism before Public Judgement” in Evenimentul zilei daily. The interview was given by Mr. Bogdan Cristian Iacob, secretary of the IICCMER’s Scientific Council.

Press release: New information on the case of Gheorghe Enoiu, former Securitate officer
Topic: The executive management of the IICCMER announced that the Institute officially requested new information on the researches related to the penal notification it had sent to the Military Prosecutor’s Office in 2007 on the name of the former officer.
On this occasion, the management also announced that the IICCMER experts also added new evidence to the existing documents within the Enoiu file.

Mr. Bogdan Iacob declared, on behalf of Mr. Vladimir Tismăneanu, president of the Scientific Council, as well as on behalf of the executive management of the IICCMER, that the assuming of the communist past is one of the Institute’s priorities. Mr. Iacob underlined that the foregoing Report opens new perspectives in investigating the post-1989 violence.

The Monica Lovinescu Conferences, organised by the IICCMER, are a tribute to the anti-totalitarian fight led by Monica Lovinescu and Virgil Ierunca as co-ordinating editors of well-known cultural broadcasts of Radio Free Europe, starting with the 1960s.
The Conferences began in June 2010. The new series of Conferences started on 14 October 2010.

Event: the digitization of the Romanian Exile Archives
The Exile and Minorities Department announces the digitization of an important part of the IICCMER Archives comprising publications of the Romanian exile.
As a result of various projects taking place between May and November 2010, IICCMER puts at researchers’ disposal the digitized form of several Romanian Exile publications, such as The Information Bulletin for Romanians in Exile („B.I.R.E.”), The “Romania” Magazine, or The “Romanian Nation” - Information Bulletin of the Council of the Romanian Political Parties: The National Peasants’ Party – National Liberal Party – Independent Social-Democratic Party.
