The Executive President of the Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes and Memory of the Romanian Exile, Radu Preda, holds the conference “25 years later. The Culture of Remembrance – The Case of Romania”, on Wednesday, June 11th, from 7 p.m., at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Vienna.

The conference aims to present the way in which a culture of remembrance was shaped in Europe and Romania respectively, 25 years after the fall of the Iron Curtain. The event raises a question each country should answer, considering the impressive number of victims: Is Europe aware, 25 years after the fall of communism, of the price of today’s freedom?
