The Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes and Memory of the Romanian Exile (IICCMER), in partnership with the National Institute for the Study of Totalitarianism (INST) and the Lumea Credinţei Magazine, organized on Thursday, May 8th, at Cărtureşti bookstore in Bucharest, the debate “The anticommunist resistance through faith”, which revealed the amazing stories of some of the victims of the communist repression and the strength they showed in fighting for their ideals.

The debate was based on two volumes recently published at Lumea Credinței Publishing House: „Sfinţii închisorilor în Lumea Credinţei. Din rezistenţa României creştine împotriva ateismului comunist”(“The Saints of the Prisons in the World of Faith. About the Christian Romanian Resistance against the Communist Atheism”), texts, foreword and notes by Răzvan Codrescu, and „GULAGUL ÎN SINAXARE. Neomartiri din Rusia bolşevică (1917-1989)” (“The Life of Saints in the Gulag. New martyrs in Bolshevik Russia”), by Vincenţiu Dascălu.

Among the speakers at the event were Radu Ciuceanu, Director of INST, Răzvan Codrescu, writer and publicist, Vincenţiu Dascălu, historian, Cosmin Budeancă, IICCMER expert, Radu Preda, Executive president of IICCMER.
