The Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes and the Memory of the Romanian Exile (IICCMER) was the partner of the 9th edition of the International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival ONE WORLD ROMANIA, which took place in Bucharest during March 21-27, 2016.
Organized by the One World Romania Association and the Bucharest Czech Center, this year’s festival was organized under the motto “Sweetener-free movies. Borderless experiences” and focused on some of the most pressing problems of society today, events that cross any kind of border.
“The public imaginary is dominated by the shattering of European borders, by the hundreds of thousands of refugees that cross barbed wire fences, economic crisis which, just like terrorism, knows no borders. The core of our program in 2016 – as organized in the first 3 of its sections – is deeply connected to these anguishes”, shows the official website.
The other four sections of the festival included documentaries on the injustices of legal systems and violence against women, the absurdities of the “labor market” and the cruelty of the institutions dedicated to persons with mental disabilities, productions that aim to create “a healthy and authentic antidote against all these wrongs”.
On this edition of One World Romania, The Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes and the Memory of the Romanian Exile supported the projection of Felvidék (Prinşi la mijloc) [Caught in the middle] of the section Trăim ca să muncim? [Do we live to work?], as well as a selection of documentaries produces during the communist period, ”Sahia Vintage”. In addition, IICCMER expert Ştefan Bosomitu took part in the talks following the documentary Ungaria 1956.
The projections took place at the Czech Center, Elvire Popesco Cinema, Union Cinema, Eforie Cinema and Hollywood Multiplex – Bucureşti Mall. For further information, please visit http://www.oneworld.ro.
