The Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes and the Memory of the Romanian Exile, in partnership with the Ministry of National Education and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, organizes the national creative contest “A different museum in your school: The Museum of Communism” (“Un altfel de muzeu în școala ta: Muzeul comunismului”) between February 6th and March 21rd.

The contest is addressed to students in grades 9-12 from schools in Romania belonging to the Ministry of National Education. Through a creative exercise, the contest aims to attract the interest of students in the history of the communist regime in Romania. Thus, we challenge students to arrange in their schools a space dedicated to the history of communism in Romania, a museum that shows through its exhibits (photos, objects, artistic creations) their perception on the communist period.

The students with the best ideas will participate in the cultural and social activities included in A different school – Human rights in Romania’s recent history program (Școala Altfel – Drepturile omului în istoria recentă a României) which will take place in Bran, from April 4th to 10th. All travel expenses, accommodation, meals and access to the cultural institutions mentioned in the list of activities will be covered by the organizers.
